Heliox Charters is based in the beautiful Simonstown/ Cape Town and offers you a variety of game fishing and deep-sea experiences.

Tailor-made packages are available to provide you with the experience of a lifetime to take back home. Some of the strongest Yellow-Fin Tuna can be caught in these waters around Cape Point, some weighing over 100kg. If you are lucky you might even encounter Big Eye Tuna or a Blue- Fin Tuna. Other species like Long-fin tuna, Yellowtail, Snoek and Dorado can also be at the end of your line. On an in-shore charter, within False Bay before Cape Point, you can try for Snoek, Yellowtail, Red Roman and Hotnotsvis.
Captain Delon Walker has been fishing and diving in these waters for the past 28 years and his local knowledge of the most renowned spots will definitely pay off on each charter. Apart from fishing he can also let you experience various other sea-bound activities which can add to your in-shore adventure, i.e. a trip to Seal Island which might include a Great White sighting and lots of Cape Fur Seals, pelagic birding, whale watching in season and spearfishing at various locations. Being a family man, he also knows how to keep your children occupied on the boat and how to make their day as exciting and unforgettable as yours.

Heliox Launch Sites

Heliox Charters can launch at any one of two launch sites:

Depending on the location of the Fish and the client`s location, it can be either of the two.

1) If the fish are east from the Canyon (this is the location 20miles offshore and it runs from south to west with an arc in the sea), then we will launch from Millerspoint.

2) If the fish are in the west, then we launch from HoutBay.

Safety is of utmost importance. A full service on the boat gets done every year and the required safety regulations on the vessels are audited by SAMSA annually.
After that peace of mind, and the fact that you are in the very capable hands of Captain and Skipper, Delon Walker, who has been at sea for the past 30years, then we can start to focus on getting you on the fish!
Delon is packed with local knowledge and connections with other skippers on the sea.
High end quality tackle are used at all times provided by the boat. No prior knowledge of deep sea angling is required, as Skipper Delon will guide you through the day and show you the ropes where necessary.
If you are a more experienced angler, it will help to know that you will find yourself in the company of the most recent record holder of the biggest Bluefin Tuna ever caught in Southern African waters.
As we all know, fishing is a game of luck, but with Delon`s skill and expertise on Heliox`s side, we would like to guarantee that best efforts will be made during your charter.

What to expect of a day on Heliox

  • Client and Skipper will meet at the slip/dock of choice (date & time to be confirmed via telephone the day before).
  • A Safety briefing takes place on Heliox before departure.
  • 30min later, we can put lines in at Cape Point and fishing will START.

If it is an inshore charter, we will stay around Cape Point, South West Reef, and Rocky Banks to try for yellow tail, some times a longfin and if you are very lucky, a yellow fin. All with spectacular views of the Southwestern-most tip of Africa i.e Cape Point.

If it is an off-shore charter, we might put lines in at Cape Point depending on the action, after which we head straight for the Canyon to look for yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, longfin tuna, dorado & marlin.

  • After a long day, we head back to the slip, at which time the skipper will decide how the catch of the day will be divided.
  • The perfect finish to the perfect day!
  • Taking some pictures of you and your fish, to ensure these memories stay with you, until we see each other again.
